In many cultures the lion is seen as the creator and symbolize loyalty, power, fortitude, pride, nobility, and protection. The lion head adorned entrances as a sign of prosperity and social status throughout Europe, which signified to royalty that impeccable services and accommodations were within. Zimmerman said, “This dedication to exceptional quality and service to an affluent audience made the lion head the ideal symbol of John McDonald Company… we were so confident, that we only presented one design option to McDonald.”
